Our story
It started with leftover yarn and one street dog named Kali.
In 2019 there wasn't a single sustainable dog collar to be found in Bali. So Annika made one - from yarn left over in Javanese garment factories. The street dogs did the rest.

From one collar to a movement
Kali's Rescue
Found drowning and poisoned in a river in Keramas, Kali survived thanks to a vet and days of care, and never left my side since. ("Kali" means river in Indonesian.)
The First Collar
Made at my kitchen table because every collar I could find for her was plastic, cheap, and built to break. So I made my own from recycled, natural materials, and set off on a mission I never expected.
The Dog Bed
Coconut-fiber filled, sturdy, and eco-friendly instead of the styrofoam-stuffed kind that falls apart. This was the real start of Kali Dogwear.
Our First Shop
What was meant to be storage in Babakan became a tiny shop after people kept asking to see the products in person. It turned into a hub for Bali's dog lovers.
Shipping to Europe
Our biggest, most nerve-wracking investment yet: 30 cubic meters of product shipped by sea to reach Europe for the first time.
Kali Dogwear in Vogue
Featured in British Vogue, showing real Bali street dogs instead of purebreds. A huge credibility boost, especially back home in Indonesia.
Building In-house
We brought production in-house for the first time (just two tailors and a production manager to start), then moved shop and workshop under one roof in Kerobokan.
Going Global
Our first overseas wholesale order landed in the UK, followed by orders from the US, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg, and Australia.
New Products, New Purpose
We launched our first hats, teamed up with Bali Padel Academy on upcycled dog toys, raised Rp 5,904,352 for street dogs during Bali's floods, and started donating to BAWA.
The New Home
We opened our new, bigger shop and repair studio on Jalan Raya Canggu, and launched our ceramic slow-feeder bowl for Bali's hungry dogs.

Ibu Reifa, Nadia, Ibu Widiani & Tina
Every product you will ever hold was cut, sewn and finished by their hands. No factory line, no shortcuts - four artisans and a room full of coconut fiber, canvas and care.

Kali
Sleeps 20 hours a day. Approves every product.

Biscuit
Second in command. Approves every nap Kali doesn't get to first.
What we don't compromise on
No single-use plastic - only recycled
Where a product needs plastic - our raincoats, dog bowls, buckles - it's built to last, not thrown away.
Made fair, made local
Produced in Bali with female-owned suppliers, at fair wages, in our own workshop.
Street dogs first
5% of profits - 2% to BAWA, 3% to sterilization. Counted, transferred, published.
Repair over replace
We'd rather fix your old leash than sell you a new one. Really.
